If home is truly where the heart is, then you should have no problem with finding yourself a home in any one of Urban Ocean Development’s uber chic, luxurious apartments, especially at The Franklin.
Located in the Johannesburg Financial District, The Franklin is an oldie, but a goodie. The development of the property has been seen as an important step in the drive to revitalize the Johannesburg CBD, which, until recent years, has been the stronghold of squalor and grossly dilapidated buildings. A high-end mixed use development, The Franklin houses company offices, specialist boutiques and cafes, and the really luxurious 76 apartment suites and penthouses that we are profiling.
It seems the apartments are created specifically with the urban sophisticate in mind. The spaces – (and we deliberately avoid the use of the word “rooms”) – are interwoven with each other. The living room seamless flows into the bedroom – in fact, there is hardly distinguishable separation between the two spaces. The aim is simple, contained, luxurious lifestyle living.
For finishes, the kitchen tops are polished onyx-esque marble, and the island is suitably matched with chic and functional bar stools for entertaining guests for brunch or dinner. The apartment suite we viewed was marked by very earthy tones: from the camel beige walls to the minimalist tuscan red woods and the brown marble tops fit for an African prince or princess.
Every apartment and penthouse is privy to breathtaking views of the bustling City of Gold all around them, central reception and 24hr security, a gym and wellness centre, and exclusive conference facilities – just in case you want to splurge on a larger than life cocktail party.
Concluding the viewing, we were in agreement with Urban Ocean Development when they say The Franklin is “excessive, extravagant and desirable”, and had only one thing in mind: “Buy! Buy! Buy! And if you can’t buy, rent.”
