A day has not passed since South African’s gave our national rugby team, the Springboks, a grand send-off as they made their journey to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup. South African’s are, after all, known for their zeal for the rumble-and-tumble sport.
But the world champions, the Springboks, won’t be the only thing the world will be watching for at this year’s World Cup. So too the esteemed New Zealand fashion show Westfield Style Pasifika – a unique event celebrating the best of Pacific fashion during the sporting celebrations.
With all this action to look forward to, The Luxury Lifestyle Guide is pleased to bring you the fashion exclusive of the Rugby World Cup. Welsh designer Elliott J. Frieze, whose spring-summer collections we reviewed earlier this year, will be one of the notable designers showcasing at the fashion extravaganza. The designer will be showcasing by personal invitation of the Prime Minister of New Zealand Rt. Hon. John Key, with the challenge of designing a garment using the New Zealand merino wool, as part of the International Designer Collection.
Mr. Frieze stands amidst a panel of leading fashion designers from each of the 19 nations participating at the Rugby World Cup. This year’s Westfield Style Pasifika will be unlike any other as the Welsh designer will be debuting his diffusion line FRIEZE by Elliott J. Frieze. Says Stan Wolfgramm, Show Producer and Creative Director, of the international fashion attraction and Frieze:
“The International Designer Collection will be the only collection of its kind in the world. It will be a symbol of global unity and national pride and we are thrilled to have Frieze’s involvement.”
Says Frieze of the garment he has prepared:
“[My] ALL-IN-ONE menswear classic has been reworked for the catwalk with reference to ‘The Sport of Gentlemen’. A piece to be worn by the fashion conscious male both on and off the pitch amalgamating the elements of the City with sportswear. [The] garment will also share the catwalk with garments by John Rocha (Ireland) and Yohji Yamamoto (Japan) amongst other international and New Zealand fashion designers.”
Frieze also revealed in our exclusive one-on-one with him that the new FRIEZE diffusion label he will be launching on the evening will include his new underwear line. The official press announcement for these new developments in the Elliott J. Frieze brand will be released in the coming week.
The Westfield Style Pasifika will be hosted on Tuesday 18 October (public event) and Wednesday 19 October (VIP gala event) and will be aired on TV ONE at 10H30PM on Sunday 30 October.
