Maybe I am saying this because I am an irredeemable Harry Potter fan but I have always felt that The Twilight Saga lives in the insurmountable shadow of Pottermania. So too with the last installments of Twilight. The producers of the vampire franchise have taken suit after Harry Potter and decided to split what would have been one movie into two parts, namely Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2.
Despite the fact that I reserve negligible regard for the Twilight series and in spite of a witty friend who remarked, “Twilight is a soap opera dressed up as a movie, about a gay vampire trying to make it work with a bipolar lesbian,” I still cannot help but want to be part of adolescent movie history and count myself amongst the millions of fans the world over who will be cuing up to watch the film upon release.
So, come November 18, beware the Twilight-struck mall rats!
